Cocito
Overview
Ezio Cocito (pronounced Co-chee-toe) inherited the Baluchin vineyard in Neive several years ago. With no winemaking experience himself, he turned to Giorgio Rivetti, of La Spinetta for help.
Giorgio and Ezio have been longtime friends; they share a passion for wine and a love of horses. Giorgio, who makes three award-winning single vineyard Barbareschi, was the ideal consultant for Ezio’s new project. He extended the use of La Spinetta’s winery and cellar for the production of the lovely Cocito Barbaresco Baluchin and, in exchange, Ezio offered to help take care of Giorgio’s horses. It’s a perfect collaboration!
Delineation of wines
Barbaresco Baluchin DOCG
Cocito’s Barbaresco Baluchin is intensely red, with rose-petal, leather, tar, spice and all the complexity and depth that defines great Nebbiolo from this area. The rich fruit elegantly balances the high acidity and firm tannins.
Visiting the Winery
Unfortunately, Ezio Cocito cannot support winery visits, as he does not own a winery, he vinifies at La Spinetta annually.
